Discover the Benefits of Minimally Invasive Surgery

Less pain. Smaller scars. Faster recovery. That’s what Kingwood Medical Center offers with the highest level of advanced surgical care utilizing the latest da Vinci Robotic Surgical System. This robotic system can be used on complex minimally invasive surgical procedures including gynecologic, urologic, cardiovascular, colorectal, and gall bladder procedures. For years, traditional surgeries and laparoscopies were the only surgical options available for patients with certain medical conditions. With small, dime-sized incisions – instead of 6-to-12-inch incisions that are common in surgeries – surgeons can perform procedures quicker and easier.

How the da Vinci® Robot works:

During robotic surgery, the surgeon is seated at a console a few feet away from the patient and views an actual image of the surgical site while operating in real-time, through tiny incisions, using electromechanically-enhanced instruments. The da Vinci®Surgical System puts a surgeon's hands at the controls of a state-of-the-art robotic platform, where they operate while viewing a high-definition 3D image of the surgical area, providing visualization that is ten times more powerful than the human eye. As the surgeon's fingers grasp the master controls, the system seamlessly translates hand, wrist and finger movements into precise real-time movements of surgical instruments inside the patient.

Da Vinci® gives surgeons all the tools they need to offer patients many benefits, including:

  • Less pain and blood loss
  • Fewer complications
  • Less scarring
  • A shorter hospital stay
  • Faster return to normal daily activities
