Support Groups and Classes

A Support Group for Aneurysm/Stroke Survivors & Loved Ones

We invite you to join our Community Centered Support Group for aneurysm/stroke survivors and their loved ones at Kingwood Medical Center Community Room.

Breastfeeding Support Group

This is a support group led by our Lactation staff to support post partum patients who are breastfeeding. We encourage new breastfeeding moms to come with their babies and questions. We look forward to seeing you soon! (FREE)

Location: Kingwood Medical Center - Suite 142

Meets every Monday at 9:30 AM (babies 12 weeks and under)

Meets every Monday from 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM (babies 12 weeks - 1 year)

Third Wednesday of the month from 5:00 PM -6:30PM

First Saturday of each month from 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM

*Except Holidays


Childbirth Preparation

This class is offered for expectant parents and should be taken early in the last trimester of pregnancy. The class is taught by our Childbirth Educators and topics in the class include: Terminology, the process of labor, medical interventions and options, relaxation techniques, and a hospital tour. (Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing.)

This class is offered on Saturdays twice monthly.
The class is from 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM. Cost: $40.00 per couple (includes lunch)


Also, offered as a two part series weekday evenings.
The weekday class is 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM Cost: $40.00 per couple (includes snacks/drinks)

$60.00 if NOT delivering at Kingwood Medical Center.


Diabetes Support Group

Facilitated by the diabetes educator, the diabetes education support group is offered to people with a diagnosis of pre-diabetes, type 1, and type 2 diabetes and their family members. Invited guest speakers discuss the most recent updated information for successful diabetes management. No charge to attend.

  • Meetings: Second Tuesday of even months (Does not meet in December)
  • Kingwood Medical Center Community Room
  • 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

  • A topic-presentation is provided each meeting and light refreshments are made available.

Grandparents Class

This class is a two and a half hour seminar for grandparents, covering the most-up-to-date facts about changes in prenatal care and the labor and delivery process, cord care, diapering, the benefits of breastfeeding, changes in formula preparation and feeding, infant safety, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), and improvements in cribs, play pens, high chairs, and car seats. A tour of the Women & Children's Center is included. To register for this class, please call 1-800-258-5064.

This class is offered on Thursday evenings once every other month.

Cost : $10.00 per person.


Infant Safety and CPR

This class is offered for new parents, parents- to- be, or grandparents to learn the latest information of infant safety. Topics covered in the class include: Car seat safety, SIDS, Child-proofing your home, and CPR for friends and family. This class is taught by a American Heart Association certified CPR instructor.

Class is offered twice monthly on weekday evenings.

Cost : $10.00 per person.


Introduction to Breastfeeding

This class is offered for expectant mothers and should be taken in the second trimester of pregnancy. Topics in this class include: Breast anatomy and hormones, Latch-on and positioning, Potential Challenges, Pumping and storing breast milk, and returning to work.

This class is offered twice monthly.

Cost: $10.00 per mother *
* We encourage mothers to bring a support person at no additional fee.


Mended Hearts

A unique support group for heart patients, their families and caregivers. Mended Hearts partners with hospitals and rehabilitation clinics to help those affected by heart disease have a positive patient-care experience. No fee.

  • Community Room
  • 6:00 p.m.

Newborn Care

This class is offered for new parents or parents- to- be to learn the latest information about newborn care. Topics covered in the class include: Infant Development, Sleeping, Bathing, Diapering, and many more topics.

Class is offered monthly on weekday evenings.

Cost : $10.00 per person.


Sibling Class

This class is offered for soon to be siblings between the ages of 3 and 10. The class topics include: Caring for a newborn, holding an infant, newborn characteristics, and a tour of the Women’s Center. (FREE)
