New Firefly Technology Lights-up Robotic-assisted Endometriosis Surgery at Kingwood Medical Center, A ‘First’ in the Houston Area

Patients treated at Kingwood Medical Center, an HCA Affiliated Hospital, now have a new, distinct advantage beginning with the first endometriosis robotic-assisted surgery of its kind in the Houston area. In November, Jennifer Browning, MD, Obstetrician and Gynecologist, at Kingwood Medical Center utilized the da Vinci Robot outfitted with Firefly fluorescence imaging to cure the chronic pelvic pain of patient Molly Gundrum.

HCA affiliated Kingwood Medical Center Chief Executive Officer, Melinda Stephenson, announced Eugene Ogrod, M.D., J.D., MACP, FACPE, CPE has been named Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Kingwood Medical Center (KMC). Dr. Ogrod comes to KMC from Baptist Medical Center in San Antonio where he served as Chief Medical Officer for the past four years.

Kingwood Medical Center and Dr. Stephanie Champion helped Amy and Andrew Beesley welcome their healthy newborn baby girl into the world at 10:55 a.m. on January 1, 2014. Her name is Morgan and she weighs 8 lbs 4 oz and is 19 inches long. The Beesley’s are from Humble, Texas and this is their first baby together.

Kingwood Medical Center, an HCA Affiliated Hospital, announced its Chief of Staff, Kent Kossoy, MD has successfully performed the first colon resection da Vinci surgery to treat colon cancer in the Lake Houston area to prolong the life of Joe Valdez.
